Emirates Airline and Dubai International Airport Fail to Ensure the Safety of a Trans Woman
In May 2025, Lilit Martirosyan was officially invited to São Paulo, Brazil, to participate in an international human rights convening. Her return trip was scheduled through Mombasa, Kenya, for another professional engagement. The layover was in Dubai International Airport, and the flights were operated by Emirates Airlines.

Italy's high court rules both same-sex mothers can be named on birth certificates
Italy's highest court ruled Thursday that women in same-sex couples who become mothers through IVF both have the right to be recognised on the birth certificate. Previously, some cities recognised only the biological parent, leaving non-biological mothers at risk of losing access to their children if their partner died or the relationship broke down.

Starmer does not believe trans women are women, No 10 says
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer does not believe transgender women are women, his official spokesman has said.
It comes after the UK Supreme Court ruled last week that a woman is defined by biological sex under equalities law.
In March 2022, when he was leader of the opposition, Sir Keir told the Times that "a woman is a female adult, and in addition to that transwomen are women, and that is not just my view - that is actually the law".

Hungary Bans LGBT Pride Marches
Hungary has passed a law banning Pride marches held by the LGBTQ+ community, sparking outrage in and out of the country.
Parliament voted for the measure just a day after the bill was submitted on Monday, in a process fast-tracked by the ruling right-wing Fidesz party under Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
